Brenda Rusnak, a physiotherapist by profession has worked most of her professional career as an entrepreneur/business woman providing rehabilitation solutions for senior citizens.

As President of The Best Part, Inc., Brenda Rusnak provides consulting in the area of health, wellness and healthy-aging. Brenda takes what she has learned from former patients and many healthy, dynamic 50+ friends, to uncover how men and women over the age of 50 really can experience the best part of their lives. Also part of a research group, she looks at innovative ways to enhance the safety and well-being of elderly individuals.

Brenda Rusnak maintains a daily blog called The Best Part. The Best Part provides meaningful, easy to understand information on how men and women over the age of 50 can really experience their lives by staying healthy and happy.

Currently, Brenda is involved in a number of different projects at various stages of development. One of the current project’s Brenda Rusnak is working on is the Cyber-Seniors Program. This program recruits high school students to teach senior citizens to communicate via email and other web-based communication tools. The Cyber-Seniors Program provides an amazing opportunity for students to truly make a difference in the lives of senior citizens. Brenda’s daughter came up with the idea after watching her grandparents discover the joys of internet communication. Check out this inspiring YouTube video about The Cyber-Seniors Program.

Recently Brenda has taken up photography and has received considerable attention after capturing a one-of-a-kind photograph on a recent trip to the Tanzania, Africa. Her picture was chosen as the Editor’s Choice by National Geographic magazine and appeared in the August 2010 edition.

Brenda Rusnak’s career began over 25 years ago as a physiotherapist. In 1983 she established the Brenda Rusnak Physiotherapy Clinic in Toronto, and in 1989 she established a second company called Active Health Management. Active Health Management became the first healthcare company in Canada to deliver preventative physiotherapy services (including Falls Prevention Programs), to senior citizens residing in Nursing Homes. In 1992, she enabled third-party insurers and employers to access standardized, high-quality rehabilitation services in large and small communities throughout Canada, by building the first national network of independently-owned and operated physiotherapy clinics. Brenda has sat on numerous professional committees, is a frequently invited guest speaker at healthcare conferences and seminars, and is a contributing author in Anne Leckie’s book entitiled “Disability and Claims Management”. She was awarded the Canadian Healthcare Manager's “Who's Who in Healthcare Technology Award”. The award is presented to winners in the areas of government, group insurance, healthcare provider, hospital management, medical research, pharmaceutical, plan sponsor and technology, and is designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate an exceptional level of leadership and vision, and whose unique approach has made a positive impact in their field.

In May of 2009, Brenda Rusnak sold Active Health Management to Centric Health Corporation. She has remained a share-holder and a consultant to Centric Health. During her busy career Brenda and her husband of over 25 years managed to raise five wonderful children.
